O Hindus, let's say NO to western New Year ! – Appeal by Hindu activists

Wrong practice of celebrating New Year on the night of 31^st December has been inculcated amongst Hindus due to lack of love and respect towards Nation and Dharma; as also lack of ‘Dharma-shikshan’ and influence of western culture. Malpractices taking place on this day have, in fact, increased. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) creates awareness towards this issue by holding demonstrations, submission of representations, undertaking signature drives, holding lectures, taking out rallies, displaying boards and publishing of articles etc. throughout the Nation for a week. This year, various pro-Hindu organizations and their members have also joined HJS drive of creating awareness amongst people. News in this respect is given below :

Rally to create awareness taken out at Nipani (Dist. Belgaum)

HJS Activists took our rally at Nipani, Karnataka

Nipani (Dist. Belgaum, Karnataka) : A rally was taken out explaining the malpractices taking place on the occasion of 31^st December against wrong custom followed by people. The rally was inaugurated by H. B. P. Baburao Wamanrao Mahajan at Sriram Mandir by performing ‘puja’ of ‘Dharma-dhvaj’. Prof. (Mrs.) Gauravati Kharade said, “Imitation of western culture has led to oppression of Hindu women and addictions. The wrong practice of celebrating 31^st December is encouraging addictions of different kinds; besides endangering life and chastity of women.” Mr. Avinash Powar of HJS said, “In western countries, nowadays, people do not celebrate 1st January on such large scale; but it has increased in India for the reason that Hindus are not imparted knowledge related to their Dharma. All Hindus need to be given ‘Dharma-shikshan’ so that they realize the importance of and abide by their Dharma. New Year should be celebrated on the day of ‘Gudhi Padva’ considering the significance of Hindu Dharma.” The memorial of Sambhajiraje and statue of Rani Chennamma on the route of the rally, were garlanded by Mr. Nigonda Patil of Sanatan Sanstha and Mrs. Yashoda Patil, the President of ‘Rani Chennamma Mahila Sangh’ respectively.

Devout Hindus make an appeal to people of Murbad through a rally

HJS Activists took our rally at Murbad, Thane

Murbad (Dist. Thane, Maharashtra) : HJS took out a rally enlightening people about celebration of New Year on ‘Gudhi Padva’ and not on 1^st January. The rally began after performing ‘puja’ of the ‘Dharma-dhvaj’ by H.H. Purushottam Maharaj at Santoshimata Mandir in the city and offering garland to the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It was taken through different parts of the city with devout Hindus raising slogans.

Special feature : Few auto-rickshaw drivers took off for half a day and joined the rally. Devout Hindus from many villages had joined the rally by coming from various places taking leave from their work for half a day. People had come even from far off villages. Many youth from Devgaon, Dudhale Pada, Shivale etc. took part in the rally despite a cricket match being played between Bharat-Pakistan. ‘Aukshan’ of ‘Dharma-dhvaj’ was done at two places en-route of rally.

It is being wrongly inculcated in people that 31^st December is Hindu New Year ! – H. H. Purushottam Maharaj

People are being misled by impressing upon them that 31^st December is Hindus’ New Year. Abidance of Dharma enriches our life; but by celebrating 31^st December, the young generation is becoming addicted to different things. Everyone should, therefore, need to abide by Dharma, stated H. H. Purushottam Maharaj.

Demonstrations held for prevention of malpractices taking place on the night of 31^st December

Thane (Maharashtra) : In Thane district, HJS has been creating awareness amongst people using different mediums to prevent malpractices taking place on the night of 31^st December. It is the outcome of following western culture. As a part of this drive, demonstrations were held at Vartaknagar Naka by HJS. Activists of various pro-Hindu organizations also joined the demonstrations. People’s response to ‘Signature drive’ undertaken on this occasion was quite encouraging.

‘Prabodhan’ rally in Sangli

Sangli (Maharashtra) : A ‘Prabodhan’ rally was taken out by HJS and Sanatan Sanstha on Sunday for their demand that 31^st December be declared as ‘Dry Day’. The rally that was taken out from Zulelal Chowk was concluded at Ganapati Mandir. H.B.P. Lakshman shastri Mote performed ‘puja’ of ‘Dharma-dhvaj’ in the beginning of the rally. Miss Pratibha Tavare and Mr. Satish Saravade of HJS addressed the gathering. Mr. Prakash Gaikwad of Sree Sampradaya, H.B.P. Ramakant Bongale Maharaj, the founder of ‘Sangli District Warakari Sampradaya Sanghatana’, Mr. Basavant Bhoravat of Shiv Sena and Mr. Haridas Kalidas of Sri Shiva-pratishthan took part in the rally along with about 150 devout Hindus.

Subject explained to students at a school in Mulund (Mumbai)

Mumbai : HJS explained the subject to students from 8th to 10th standard at Mulund Vidyamandir. Mr. Satish Sonar off HJS addressed 700 students and 10 teachers creating awareness among them. The teachers attending the program lauded HJS drive for creating awareness amongst people towards their culture.

Vehicle rally at Kedgaon (Pune) : Residents of Kedgaon resolve against celebrating Christian New Year !

Kedgaon (Dist. Pune, Maharashtra) : Celebrating New Year on the night of 31^st December is like converting for a day was the message given through a rally of vehicles jointly organized by ‘Swatantryaveer Savarkar Yuva Vichar Manch (SSYVM)’ and HJS on 30th December. About 50 youth members carrying saffron flags and displaying enlightening matter on posters tied on their back participated in the rally raising slogans. The rally was started from Nagehswar Mandir by breaking a coconut. It was taken through Kedgaon, Ambegaon, Vakhari, Bori Pardhi, Khutbav etc. covering about 8 kilometers area, creating awareness amongst villagers. Handbills on the topic were also distributed on the occasion. The natives made a resolve of not celebrating Christian New Year.

Dr. Neelesh Lonkar, the founder and President of SSYVM took initiative in organizing this rally. (Congratulations to Dr. Lonkar for taking initiative in protection of Dharma ! Other Hindus can take inspiration from him and become active to prevent attacks on Dharma ! – Editor Sanatan Prabhat) Similar rally was taken out even last year. The sellers of liquor informed that sale of liquor dropped by 80% due to the rally. Mr. Sunil Ghanavat addressed the gathering at the end of the rally while Mr. Sandip Tengale did compeering and Dr. Lonkar expressed vote of thanks. Many people asked for handbills distributed on the subject.

Representation submitted to District Collector and senior Police Inspector

Pune (Maharashtra) : Representation was submitted to the Resident District Collector, Mr. Anil Pawar and Hadapsar Police Station’s seniorPolice Inspector, Raghunath Jadhav for preventing wrong practices taking place on the occasion of Christian New Year celebrated on 31^st December and 1^st January. Mr. Kumavat of ‘Yuva Seva Sangh’ run by Pu. Asarambapu Sect and activists of HJS were present on the occasion.

Memorandum submitted to Solpaur Police Station

Solapur (Maharashtra) : Bharati University and HJS jointly submitted memorandum to Vijapur Naka Police Station demanding to stop wrong practices followed on 31^st December. Mrs. Pailwan, Kavade, Berunagi, Yadav, Smt. Javalkoti, Smt. Sakhare and Smt. Savita Patil, were the activists of HJS present on the occasion. 

Awareness drive undertaken outside Ghatkopar Railway Station

Mumbai : HJS made an appeal to declare 31^st December as a ‘Dry Day’ during demonstrations held outside railway station. 25 activists of HJS took part in the drive creating awareness among people. Mr. Prashant Bade of ‘Hindurashtra Sena’ and other activists, Mr. Ashish Ojha of ‘BJP Yuva Manch’, Mr. Jagajeet Singh of ‘Sahayyata Foundation Trust’ and BJP’s dynamic activist, Mr. Bal Golatkar were also present on this occasion.
