HJS : Government, Administration apathetic towards abuse of National Flag ?

Pune (Maharashtra) : A patriotic organization viz. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has very effectively undertaken a drive for the last 8 years for prevention of insult of National Flag and other national symbols. As a result, along with citizens, even the Government officers also have become aware of the issue. Thane Police and Upper District Collector from Sangli have taken steps to prevent such insult. Press conferences were held by HJS at Mumbai, Pune and Kolhapur on Wednesday, 23rd January 2013 for giving brief information about this drive. A short report of these press conferences is given below.

Mumbai :  Mr. Satish Sonar and Prasad Vadake of HJS said that owing to awareness created by HJS, the Deputy Inspector General of Police has issued a circular giving necessary instructions to all his staff. More and more citizens need to participate in this drive.

Pune : Is it the job of only voluntary organizations to stop insult of National Flag? We are receiving very cool response from the Administration in this context. Why is Government – Administration so indifferent towards this issue, was the question asked by Mr. Sunil Ghanavat, the Maharashtra State Coordinator of HJS in the press conference. Mr. Dayawan Kumavat from ‘Yuva Seva Sangha’ of Pu. Asarambapu Sampradaya, HJS Pune district Coordinator, Miss Priyanka Lone and Parag Gokhale and Mrs. Manisha Pathak of Sanatan Sanstha were present on the occasion. Mr. Kumavat said that Yuva Seva Sangh will actively support this drive undertaken in national interest.

Drive undertaken at Pune !

1. Representations submitted to more than 40 police stations and 8 Administrative Officers
2. More than 300 display-boards, posters and distribution of handbills
3. More than 15 Cells set up to create awareness amongst people
4. 80 Schools-colleges visited to explain the issue
5. More than 4, 00,000 people made aware of the issue through the medium of 3 local channels

Response from Nagar District
1. Devout citizens, Mr. Tarvesh Mahalas and Nikhil Upasani spontaneously put up boards explaining about maintaining the honour of National Flags in ‘Dr. Veerendra Ohra College’ as also distributed handbills on the subject.

2. Education Officer of Nagar Zilha Parishad sent circular to 14 Tehsildars and asked them to circulate the same even in schools.

3. In 4 schools of ‘Hindu Seva Mandal’, its President, Mr. Ajay Bora has given permission to hold exhibition on life history of revolutionaries.

Chinchwad :  In a press conference held at ‘Gharonda’ hotel, BJP’s advocate Moreshwar Shedge, Mr. Nitin Vatkar of Gou-raksha Samiti, Mr. Shekhar Tandale of Sanatan Sanstha and Mr. Parag Gokhale of HJS were  present. Advocate Shedge said that they supported HJS and display-boards would be put up in the city creating awareness amongst people. It was agreed to telecast VCD on the topic ‘Honour National Flag’ by ‘Shri News’ Cable channel.

Kolhapur : The decision taken by the Government about prevention of insult of National Flag has to be implemented properly. Manufacturers of plastic flags, badges and other products, their distributors and sellers should be raided and action should be taken against them, was the demand made by Mr. Madhukar Nazare of HJS and Dr. Mansingh Shinde of Sanatan Sanstha in the press conference. Mr. Shivajirao Sase, Hindurao Shelke of Hindu Ekata Andolan, Mr. Sudhakar Sutar, Shivanand Swami of HJS and Mrs. Sangita Kadukar of Sanatan Sanstha were present on the occasion.

National welfare in heart despite facing many problems !

4. Activists of HJS had to face police action when they had gone to police station to lodge complaint against sellers of plastic national flags at Pune few years ago. HJS activists have, however, continued their good work despite facing harassment from police and court cases etc. Mr. Parag Gokhale of HJS said that the activities related to protection of Nation and Dharma will be continued as an oath taken by them; disregarding all problems and harassments.
