Industrialization will be seen with the perspective of Swami Vivekananda in Hindu Rashtra

1) Contradictory views on industrialisation held by Gandhi and ‘Bharat-Ratna’ Mokshagundam Vishweshwaraiya !

Gandhiji used to say, “If you opt for industrialisation, you will perish !” whereas recipient of ‘Bharat-Ratna’ award, able engineer M. Vishweshwaraiya had declared, “If you don’t go for Industrialization, you will perish !” Both were right; one gave more importance to human values and the other to physical, materialistic development !

2) India should be leading in every field like Industrialization; but it should not sacrifice eternal values of life and culture, was the opinion of Swami Vivekananda.

3) Balance achieved by Swami Vivekananda between eternal culture and materialistic development !

Views of Gandhiji and Vishweshwaraiya, which appear contradictory, were coordinated and balanced by Swami Vivekananda. Swami Vivekananda had realised that for all-round growth of the country, both were necessary and he used to say, “Today, we need synchronization of ‘Vedanta’ and western science. We should have faith and self confidence should be generated in us.”

4) Jamashedji Tata got inspiration from Swami Vivekananda and established ‘Research Institute of Science for India.’

Sir Jamashedji Tata met Swami Vivekananda in 1893 in Japan. They travelled together from Japan to Chicago. During this journey, Swami Vivekananda motivated Jamashedji Tata for establishment of a scientific research institute in India. Mysore King Shri. Chamrajendra Odeyar was a close friend of Swami Vivekananda. ‘Give necessary help to Jamashedji’ was the advice given by Swami Vivekananda to the King of Mysore. Jamashedji was inspired by Swami Vivekananda to establish ‘Research Institute of Science for India’ in Mysore.  (‘Lokjagar’, issue 52, 6th July 2012)
